Looking Forward
Taking a clue from the world around me I love to utilize what I see, architecture, flowers, color and magazine articles. In these past 5 years, I've gone from painting Mountains with a brush to using credit cards/business cards to apply paint to the bold swipes, rich colors and gold lines of my work. I mainly paint in acrylic, but also sculpt, reclaim sanity with up-cycle quilting and I love capturing a moment with photography. Thus creating my signature vibe in various enjoyable pieces and incorporating something recognizable or unique to each piece that I create.
Growing up in San Francisco I was fortunate to have been mentored by Cynthia Tom, Bay Area artist, and we worked together for years in her Hunters Point Shipyard Studio. We explored, created found object art and fashion in fun forms, enjoying a successful studio collaboration, teacher and student. After school I went into another industry and as the years passed, I found that I still enjoyed creating! So jewelry, painting and redesigning clothes was sneaked in when I could find time as I had gotten married and was raising a family. I never stopped dreaming of creating my art.
7 years ago, I decided it was time to put the attention back on my Art and I have created a successful business with various yearly showings across the Bay Area. With over 3 great Art Organizations. I've been blessed to find studio space at 1890 Bryant Street where I'm surrounded by many artists, giving me the opportunity to feel confident to just say “Go for it!”. I began showing in San Francisco and then across the Bay Area. Currently showing from Martinez to Petaluma.
After spending some time on the Board with San Francisco Women Artist Gallery I joined The Art Of The African Diaspora Steering Committee with the Richmond Art Center and have been very happy to work with a multitude of artists and curate multiple shows yearly over the years. As a Board member for Art Works Downtown in San Rafael, DSRAD (San Rafael & Walnut Creek Arts Association, I feel I can better mentor more artists, completing the circle and how I feel I can best give back.
