Peanut & Friends began as a quiet act of gathering.
In the stillness after COVID, my desk was filled with remnants—scraps from masks, fragments of quilts, bits of foam and thread that carried the touch of long days spent craring, mending, and making. I couldn't throw them away. They felt like pieces of a story.
So I began to weave.
Using traditional African and Native American basket-weaving techniques, I build each form from the inside out, starting with the “ribs” made from foam rescued from my husband's sewing business. Around these bones, I weave what remains: soft yarns, fabric samples, bright threads, salvaged foam, even the plastic strapping from delivery boxes. Materials once overlooked or discarded slowly find new life in my hands.
Each basket becomes a small vessel of memory and resilience—a record of survival, resourcefulness, and care. They hold the tenderness of cloth, the strength of structure, and the spirit of making something beautiful from what's left behind.
Peanut & Friends is about transformation: honoring traditional craft while embracing the everyday and the imperfect, turning scraps into shelter, and weaving connection from what we carry forward.
